Perhaps you can afford more, with the Vicomte de Changney as your patron

Hello, cherub children. The topic of today's post is the word 'more'. Say it with me, M-O-R-E. No, Excalibur, 'MOAR' is not a word. And before you ask, we are not talking about moors, as in people of mixed Arab and Berber descent, or moor as in the anchoring of a ship. Excalibur keeps exclaiming 'MOOOAAAAR!' at me, so I looked it up on dictionary.reference.com. Apparently, these are the related searches.

Yeah, I totally see how Raptor Jesus and 4chan relate to today's topic. Apparently, dictionary.com thinks that my ninja is not an idiot though, because...

my ninja is an idiot

No results found for my ninja is an idiot:
Did you mean nonaccented?
Oh, how silly of me, of course I meant 'nonaccented'. It's okay Xcali, I don't really think you're an idiot. Even though you can't spell for your life. Blame Lolcats! Bwaha. Oh right, reality. Back to my prompt of 'more'. I really was going to blog without purpose, but those style of posts always seem to be so much lamer, don't you think? Oh drat, I was just about to get to the point of this post, Excalibur wars and stuff. I think he's still annoyed that I put my red sock in his whites-wash. Maybe it's the idiot comment. Or maybe it's because I don't come around here often enough any more. It's a relationship breakdown, people!

I STILL LOVE YOU, EXCALIBUR! <3

Et hem. The girl talking to the blog ninja maintains her dignity. Ohoh, I think I may have already posted this, but methinks can post on blogs with an open ID now, so yayteimz being able to comment again! Now that I've gotten some of the randomness out of the way, let the Order of the Phoenix odered post begin!

More Stress

I thought I'd get the boring one out of the way first. I can now count the days until QCS on my fingers and toes, which is very scary. I think I'm more scared of the fact that everyone in my grade is all chilled and like "Biggest test of my schooling life coming up? Cool story bro..." We were practicing for it today, and most of the class just copied the answers from the book, instead of actually working, and using those to check their answers. These are the people who can bring my OP down by up to 3 places. I'd insert a hearty FML here, but I'm not exactly that much more motivated than they are. Not to be cocky, but I am generally more intelligent. Ah, the moment when you walking into a room and note to yourself that your intellectual capacity is higher than all of the 20 odd others combined. I kid, I kid, I'm not that much of a brainiac, and most people I know are quite intelligent. There are just a lot of lazies in my grade.

More Formal Highs and Woes

I'm a queen with a paper cutter. Last night, I cut all of the remaining 100-and-something invites for the formal. They still need to be glued together, and have bows pinned on them, but it was still a relieving thing to have done. I'd say around a third of all the invites have been completed now, and they're looking pretty snazzy, if I do say so myself. It's been a bit of a shizball having to give up my afternoon to make formal invites, but I don't regret it. This is lucky, because I'll probably have to spend countless more completing them. I finally got my dress after five months of waiting. I must say, it does look pretty stunning on me, even if it is the wrong colour, and not what I would have expected to wear to the formal. No doubt, I'll end up dropping food on it anyway. Speaking of, which, I was looking at the menu today with nath_alex01, and man, we didn't even know what have of the stuff on there was. Apparently even Google was confused as to what bocconcini was, and spell-check didn't even recognise it as a word, so we should be excused for that one. It's a cheese made from the milk of water buffalo, according to sauces sources. To me, it sounds so delightfully strange, I'd love to have it at the formal, if only for the novelty factor. I didn't really like much of what was on the menu, so I'll probably be sipping their complimentary expresso and claiming to be 'on a diet' all night. It's of no consequence, though, because it's going to be an amazing night no matter what. I've worked too hard for it to not!

POTTERMORE

If you've had your head in the sand and totally missed the whole Pottermore thing, then... where have you been? Actually, I keep on stumbling across the big events for it by accident. I waited to watch the release video for it because someone posted the link on Facebook 15mins before it was put to air. I came across the Early Access week thing because one of my groups on Facebook also just happened to be talking about it. And I happened to be there at just the right time when it was open to the first million people of the public. And I accidentally made two accounts on two different email addresses, because I didn't think one had worked. And they both got chosen for early access, so I'm pretty pumped. Now, just to wait a few darn months until they send me my Welcome email and let me use the site. Apparently they're staggering their early access. My guess is because people would go nuts and the site would crash if they didn't. It's not even open yet and it's already crashed multiple times from excessive demand. To be honest, I'm not even sure what it is. From their blog, I get the impression that it's a site where you play through the Harry Potter book series in a game-multiple-path-virtual-book-thing. They say it's not for social networking, but it's not strictly a game either. Whatever it is, I've been pretty lucky with it so far, so I'm going to keep checking for more progress!

More Out of Life

As of today, I have only 60 days left of school! I really am feeling excessively positive at the moment. Last weekend, I went to that large-and-scary-university open day, and I found that I really liked it there. I ended up filling in my QTAC preferences that day, and they're as follows.

1. Bachelor of Arts/ Bachelor of International Hotel and Tourism Management
2. Bachelor of International Studies
3. Bachelor of International Studies (the UNE one. Sigh.)
4. Bachelor of Event and Convention Management
5. Bachelor of Arts
6. Bachelor of Business (International Hotel and Tourism Management)

It was very relieving to know that I've actually made some choices as to where I'm aiming to go next year, as opposed to whinging and blindly searching. Even if I have the worst of the school year still to go, I can see the end is in sight, so I'm learning to be more positive and less complaintative about school. LOLjks, I haven't stopped complaining, but I am appreciating my time there more. I've been doing more lately, and although it has been harder in a lot of ways, it has also been much more rewarding.

More Sickness

Okay, so this just had to get a section of it's own. Last week was sickness crazy, and I ended up taking a whole three days off school. I don't think I've taken that many consecutive days off in years, if ever. And yesterday was just... yeah. I had me some bad cramps. So much so that I nearly threw up. I staggered up to my school bathrooms, only to find that they were closed. So I lent on the bubblers for a few minutes and let water splash on my face. I tried to make it down the hill to get to the sickbay at the office, but I nearly collapsed, so I had to rest against a tree. Seriously, I must have looked like I was either drunk or dying. By the time I did make it to sickbay, I was green in the face, and grey around the eyes. I lay down, pulled up a blanket and a pillow, made myself a heat pack (tsk. The office ladies forgot about me) and passed out from the pain. I woke up three hours later with the office lady telling me that she'd called my mother. Luckily, when I woke up the pain was gone. Apparently my friends were looking for me, because they thought I may have passed out somewhere else, or been kidnapped. Bless.

More InuYasha ^^

So, I'm kinda proud of myself for making it up to episode 92 of InuYasha. This means I have... 75 episodes to go! Plus The Final Act, of course. I still plan to finish this anime before I finish school. It's pretty unlikely, seeing as it has taken me a good 10 months just to watch the first 92 episodes, but I may as well try. I started reading the manga the other day too. Gotta love downloading 15 volumes of manga when you should be working on a Music Extension thesis. I ended up getting my thesis done anyway, so I can justify the downloading to myself. Honestly, it's going to take a long time to read, but I'm really enjoying it. I should get back into shorter animes again, but eh, I'm loving InuYasha too much at the moment. I'm totally proud of myself for having some rather interesting not-totally-cannon ships in this show too. My order of favourite ships has turned upside-down from what it originally was. It is currently (exclusing my many one-sided ships):

1. NarakuxKikyou (biggest guilty pleasure ship ever. Oh dear.)
2. SesshomaruxKagura
3. MirokuxSango
4. InuYashaxKagome

Because you all care so much about my shipping preferences. I was watching episode 2 of The Final Act, and I could not get over show shiptastic Kagura's death was. You really shouldn't be squeeing at someone's death, but seriously, she died happy because she got to see Sesshy one last time. Before that scene, I thought any shippy-ness between them was all in my head. It was awesome to have some real hintage.

That's all there is; there isn't any more

I've run out of things to ramble about, kiddiewinkles. This is your friendly neighbourhood demsemiquavergirl and her moody ninja, signing out. Until next time, amigos! @>`-,--

Trivia: The title of this post comes from Act 1, Scene 2 of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. It was the first thing that came to mind when I was trying to think of a quote that involved the word 'more'. Yes, I shall be a Phantom Phan for life.

Also, Blogger keeps effing up my formatting. If this post seems really, really ill formatted, I apologise. I'm doing my best to fix it.
Update: Fixed!

Love Never Dies... But My Heart Just Did.

LOVE NEVER DIES MUST DIEEEEEEEE! >:[ Okay, now that we've got that out of the way, I can write normally... or not. This rant has been coming for a very, very long time, so beware, because this could take a while. Let me take you back to, let's say late 2009. We all know that I love The Phantom of the Opera, yes? It was the first musical I ever saw on stage, and pretty much the reason I am who I am today. It's weird to think that a musical could change someone so much, but it really did. Let me also just put it out there that Jesus Christ Superstar is my second favourite musical. I saw it twice last year, and was completely blown away. That's right, I said it, I liked an independent production of JCS even more than I liked Wicked. I don't know why, but that show just really struck a chord in me; I felt really connected. I also had a lot of respect for that production. Despite being independent, the company managed to have a set, cast, band and lighting effects that rivalled any professional production I'd ever seen. Hm. So, now I've established that.

Back to late 2009. I remember sitting at my computer, and seeing on my Youtube account that The Really Useful Group (aka The Really Useless Group of middle-aged fuddy duddies; Andrew Lloyd Webber's bunch) had uploaded the Media/Press release thing for his latest musical. [I know, that sentence was so eloquent] The name of this musical was (and, sadly, still is) Love Never Dies. Urgh. Am I the only one who thinks that name sounds so ridiculously cliche? Normally, I wouldn't really care if Lord "Bonkers" Lloyd Webber was making a new musical, but this one was said to be a sequel to The Phantom of the Opera. I'm not going to lie, I was against the idea of a sequel since I first heard about it. I remember reading it in the online news, when Otto (ALW's cat. R.I.P, you wonderful creature) had accidentally deleted his full score for LND, which he had saved on his keyboard. Well, they say it was an accident, but I like to think of that cat as a Godsend, who was trying to save our ears from horror.

Sadly, ALW re-wrote the musical disaster, and it was on that fateful day in late 2009 that I first heard the music. I remember actually cringing when I heard the Coney Island Waltz, which was supposed to be the equivalent of an overture for the musical. It sounded like a rip-off of Carousel, but worse. And well, the Phantom Overture was so intense and just generally amazeballs, so, you'd expect the overture to the sequel to follow suit. I'll let you compare the two below. I don't even think I need to put in an argument as to which is better, because it's blatantly obvious. My heart starts to beat fast every time I hear the synthesiser playing the D minor chord at the beginning of the Phantom overture. I felt nauseous the few times I listened to CIW.
Right! Coney Island! Who was the idiot that decided to move Phantom to Coney Island? Whoever thought: "That dude was mentally scarred from being in a freak show as a kid. ZOMG. SO HE'D TOTES WANTS TO GO BAK TO DAT!" needs to be magically lassoo'd by Erik. Leroux's Erik, that is. I mean, that Phantom was badass! I'm getting off-topic. Anyway, as I was saying, the setting is terrible. I've seen pictures of some of the 'sets', and I really didn't like them. I mean, yay props to ALW for being all technological and using projections for the backdrops and what not, but, it still looked incredibly tacky to me. And, erm, there is this arch that looks like a woman's.. er, private areas. I don't go out of my way to see if sets look sexual, but this arch is really disturbing.

This isn't a great picture of it, buuuut, that arch still looks sus.

And it's not the only thing that's sexual. According to the sequel, after Christine leaves the Phantom to go off and live her life with Raoul, well, let's just say that she doesn't really leave him. On the night before her wedding to Raoul, she tracks the Phantom down and has lots and lots of really hot sex with him, again and then again. *brainexplodes* WHAT? Hold up, the Phantom and Christine have sex? Not only that, he leaves her the morning after, feeling ashamed. Oh, and it turns out that she gets pregnant with his kid, and then raises the boy with Raoul anyway. I have to say, what a complete hoe! This isn't the Christine we last saw at the end of Phantom. The one who stood up to her stalker and finally decided that she wasn't going to be manipulated by everyone. Why she would 'do it' with Phanty is also beyond me. I'll admit, there are times when I've had the biggest fangirl crush on this character, despite his crazy murderings and stalkerliciousness, but, I wouldn't hunt him down on the eve of my wedding and practically beg him to have sex with me over and over. It just doesn't even make sense. Christine clearly makes her choice at the end of Phantom. She chooses Raoul, who she is in love with, and leaves the Phantom all by himself. Yes, this means that half the audience is in tears, but they are crying tears of awesome. The fact that the Phantom lets Raoul and Christine go in the end redeems him. And heaven knows, he needs all the redemption he can get. And the thing is, he lets the lovers go because Christine gives him a long, passionate smooch. In that moment, he is so moved by being shown a form of affection that even his own parents had denied to him; that kiss meant everything. So, am I to believe that this same character is going to be okay with having lots of meaningless sex just a short time later? Firstly, I don't think that the Phantom would ever have slept with Christine. He was way too insecure about his body to ever do anything that made him so vulnerable. Period. Secondly, Christine would never have slept with the Phantom. She felt a bond with him through music, but she was never attracted to him. Well, definitely not after she saw his deformities anyway. Plus, she was in love with Raoul, so why would she hunt down her stalker for a good time? I mean, it was the night before her wedding, so she was sure to 'get some' within 24 hours anyway. And if she did indeed sleep with Phanty and Raoul on two consecutive nights, how could she have been sure that the child she later gives birth to is the Phantom's? It's not like they had DNA testing back in those days or anything... Also, I hate the fact that the Phantom apparently leaves Christine after doing her all night. I mean, if she actually wanted him, and he was okay enough with himself do do it with her, then there is no way that he would ever leave her. All he ever wanted in the original was to have her for his own. Like hell he'd be running away (before she even wakes up!) if they finally got together.

The other areas of the plot are just as dire. The premise of the story is that Christine becomes a successful opera singer, and likes with Raoul in France. The Phantom, however, flees Paris after the Opera house burns down (though, I swear that was only in the movie. I don't remember any burning happening in the stage production. Grrrr.) and jumps on a boat bound for Coney Island, America. Oh, did I mention that Madame Giry and Meg come along for the ride? The Phantom ends up making a successful freak show and entertainment thing at Coney. Meg falls obsessively in love with him. He doesn't care, because for "ten looooong years" he wastes his time on "smoke and noise" and pines for Christine. He ends up sending her a letter, beseeching her to come and perform at Coney, and signing it as "Mr Y". Actually, I think they changed this in the latest version of LND, but I don't really understand why or how. Something about Hammerstein? I don't know, it's rubbish either way. Christine, apparently losing all her intelligence, agrees to come and sing in "Phantasma", the Phantom's act. Subtle name, I know. She brings along Raoul, who is now an abusive drunk, and 'their' son Gustave. To cut a long story short, Christine ends up finding out that the Phantom is the one who lured her to Coney. They sing Beneath a Moonless Sky aka the song about them remembering all the good sex they had that one night. I can sum up the rest of the show in a few sentences. Raoul and "Mr Y" fight over Christine, and end up betting on which one of them she will go with. The Phantom says that if she agrees to sing for him, he'll have her, and is she doesn't, Raoul can leave with his wife and child, and the Phantom will repay all his debts. Yes, betting on women is soooo romantic *barf* Anyway, she ends up singing, and Raoul goes to leave for Paris, alone. Suddenly, Meg decides to kidnap Gustave, and threatens to kill him. Phanty and Christine come along, and the Phantom tries to persuade her to put away her gun. She gets annoyed at him for never noticing her (why she's in love with him is beyond me) and he says that he sympathises with her, and knows what it's like not to be loved. Sadly, the idiot goes on to say "We can't all be like Christine..." and, well, Meg goes psycho and accidentally shoots Christine. Christine dies, the Phantom becomes a single Dad. I think they changed the ending to have Raoul return and be with Gustave, and then Gustave goes to the Phantom? I don't know. It's completely messed up. I don't know how an innocent ballerina turned into a slutty murderer, a starry-eyed young gentleman became an abusive drunk, a manipulative, badass murderer became a sappy emo kid, and a sweet young woman became a whore. ALW can't claim that this is character development. This is character assassination.

Have I mentioned the lyrics? They're awful. Some examples include:
- He knows you're made of finer stuff (THEY USED 'STUFF' IN A SONG. THE LYRICIST SHOULD BE FIREDDDDDDDDD!)
- I'll always feel no more than half way real, 'til I hear you sing once more
- Once there was a night beneath a moonless sky, too dark to see a thing, too dark to even try [...] And I held you. And I touched you. And embraced you. And I felt you. And with every breath and every sigh. I felt no longer scared. I felt no longer shy [...] cloaked under the night, with nothing to suppress.  A woman and a man. No more and yet, no less.
... I can't go on, because I feel like my eyes are being raped, reading these appalling lyrics. The last point is from Beneath a Moonless Sky. Now, we all know that I like to rant on romance. That rubbish is not romantic. It is just tacky beyond words. I know Phantom had a lot of sexual metaphor in it (think "When will the blood begin to race? A sleeping bud burst into bloom? When will the flames at last consume us?" from The Point of No Return), but it was just that: metaphor! There is no subtlety in the lyrics to BAMS at all. The second point, which is from Til I Hear You Sing, errrr. Many people who hate the show love this song. I am not one of them. It's meant to be somewhat of an equivalent of Music of the Night, but, it fails. If someone sung the former to me, I would cringe and slap them. If someone sung the latter to me, I would swoon and vow to be with them forever. It's as simple as that.

I could go on all day about the faults in this show, because there are just so many. I think that people have the right to like it, but I certainly never shall. And to be honest, many LND fans are pretty loco. I've been a member of the group Love Should Die on Facebook since early last year, and I've been tracking their progress. I haven't really wanted to get involved with anything, but reading the page, I've found most of the people on there to be intelligent and dedicated phans. Yet, I've seen them be crazily abused just because they don't like the show. I'll never forget how even The Really [Useless] Group treated this one Canadian couple who had supported the original for years, but, uhm-ah, dared to speak out against the sequel. It was so unprofessional, and quite appalling. In fact, Andrew Lloyd Webber and his gang have been nothing but awful to anyone who doesn't like the sequel, even if they continue to support the original in all ways possible. That guy is just messed up.

Phew! I can't believe I've managed to restrain from ranting about this on my blog for so long! It feels good to get it out. Actually, there is a reason that I chose now to explode. You know how I was establishing earlier that JCS is my second favourite musical? Well, there's going to be a return season of the show in June, and I've booked to see it another two times. All of the original cast are returning... except for the guy who played Judas. This news was devastating enough for me, as he portrayed the character to perfection, was absolutely gorgeous to look at, and had one of the best voices in musical theatre that I have ever heard in my entire life... And his growl in Heaven on their Minds was so lush... And the emotion he put into Judas' suicide was insane. It's the only scene that has ever made me cry more than the Final Lair from Phantom... And he just owned the role. Completely. So, yeah, I was 'totes devo' to discover that I'd never get to see him in the role again.

This afternoon, I was looking at that independent theatre company's Facebook page, and I see that the guy has been cast in an ensemble role in the Australian production of Love Never Dies. So, not only has this musical ruined the way I view my favourite musical, but it has stolen one of my favourite performers, and stopped them from performing in my favourite musical. Did I mention that a heap of other musical performers who I love and respect have been cast in the monstrosity too? I'm feeling rather heartbroken at the moment... But, I still refuse to see the show live. I've heard all the songs, seen a heap of pictures, and read all about the storyline. I know that I don't like it, and I don't want ALW to get a cent of my money...

... LOVE SHOULD DIE! >:D

Just Haven't Met You Yet: The Confessions of an Innocent Mind

Hola, mis amigos. Me encantan los blogs. ¿Te diste cuenta?Yes, here I am, blogging instead of studying... again. I really don't want this blog to be full of depressing and/or typical teenage life thoughts; I'd prefer it to stay light-hearted and filled up with stories about my misadventures and strange quirks. However, I'm in a ranty hopeful/slightly depressed mood at the moment (because, you know, that isn't a strange combination at all), so I'm just going to blog about something that's on my mind. That topic is (cue tension-y music): My own innocence and naivety.
If you didn't know me, and you heard me talking to my group of friends (ahh, you wonderful, wonderful misfits. I love you so), you may think that I was some sort of deranged whore, because I make so many silly dirty jokes.
Yeah, this could not be further from the truth. So, I'm going to admit something that the general internet-world probably doesn't need to know. I have never had sex. I have never had a relationship. Dear freaking Lord, I have never even been kissed. Not even a peck.
Wow, I felt kinda nauseous writing that. Hopefully a whole bunch of randoms don't come along and gang-judge me. I can just here them now: "Let's sacrifice the virgin! Mwahahaha!"
Hold up there guys, put the cult costumes and sacrificial knife away. Now.
I promise, I'll make sure this post stays entertaining; I don't want to put you to sleep with senseless whining.
Et hem. As I was saying, my entire life, I've been single. Not the object of any one's attention. Alone, if you will. Gosh, I do not want any sympathy, I'm just telling it how it is.
There is a little part of me that just wants to run up to the closest male life form and say "Take me, bitch!" but alas, I have high standards. Nay, very high standards. And you know what, I also have little-to-no social skills, so I'd probably be too afraid to talk to them.
I'm very critical of myself, but I will admit this: I am not ugly. In fact, I've been called beautiful by quite a number of people, even stunning on occasions (and no, this is not by Facebook whores, who seem to think anyone who takes a photo of themselves is the most gorgeous person alive).
I don't even think my social phobia is the biggest reason I've never been in a relationship, it's just that I'm so innocent.
Many people say that about themselves, but I can tell you that I take the meaning of the word to a whole new level. I mean, I grew up in a household that was always very open about "taboo" topics like sex, growing up, puberty, how 'bad' people in the World can be. So, it's not like I'm not aware of these sort of things in the World... I guess I'm just not comfortable with them. If I look at a guy and say "I'd tap that soo hard", what I actually mean is "My goodness, he is attractive. I think I would like to give him a nice hug. And maybe hold hands... if he gets lucky."
I remember reading some lifestyle article a few months ago that said something along the lines of this: If someone doesn't have sex with you within two months of you dating, you've drawn a short straw, and you should break up with them."
Like, what? I completely freaked out when I read this; I even started making these r-rolling noises that always seem to roll off my tongue when I flip out over something. I mean, I grew up in a Christian household that taught me that these sort of things were reserved for marriage, and I always liked that thought. That way you can be pretty sure that you're not catching any STDs, and you know that the person (excuse my crude language) is not just going to fuck you and leave you.
But you know, apparently having sex with anyone is as common as eating toast these days. Lovely.
I know that life isn't all fairytales and butterflies, but part of me still wishes I'll meet my ideal guy (tall, dark, handsome, nicely toned, deep thinking, caring, er, Latin) and we'll build up a nice, strong relationship and always be there together. Oh, and we'll share true love's kiss. Shut up, okay?
Did I mention that I kinda have a hygiene complex? Dettol instant hand sanitiser FTW! So the thought of even doing something like tongue kissing someone worries me. Ew. Saliva germs.
Gosh, I sound like I'm in grade 1... or Emma off Glee. Oh deary me, I hope I don't turn into that much of a germ-o-phobe.
Anyways, so I often make really sexual jokes (and quite frequently) to cover up the fact that I am terrified of anything sexual. Maybe it's because I've never had anything to do with that sort of stuff, maybe it's because I'm backward, maybe it's because those sorts of things have always been too acceptable in my household. I don't know, and I really don't intend to psycho-analyse myself right now.
Hey, I just came up with one. Maybe it's because I'm so darn spiritual. So, I've mentioned how much I adore The Phantom of the Opera. Well, it is completely littered with sexual metaphor. If everything was literal, I would have found the show profoundly uncomfortable to watch, but because it was metaphorical, it was so beautiful. It was art. And there were these small details in the show: the touch of a hand, the tension-filled gaze into an eye. For some reason, this all felt more intimate to me than anything sexual ever could. It was like, the true feeling of human connection, rather than some animal act. Now hey, I'm all for sexual reproduction (I don't intend to die a virgin, with no kiddies, you know), and I see how it an be an act of love. But, let face it, it's not treated as such in many cases.
Surely there's nothing wrong with me thinking the lyric:
"Floating, falling, sweet intoxication. Touch me, trust me; savour each sensation"
Is much more sensual than:
"Please excuse me, I don't mean to be rude, but tonight I'm f*cking you"
Yet, one was said in the context of an embrace, and the other, in the context of meaningless sex. Gah.
The thing is, I've been hit on by random guys before, on countless occasions. I've been checked out, had sexual remarks yelled at me, hey, I've even been stalked by a group of men. But, I didn't actually enjoy any of this. I just hate the fact that people are judging whether they are attracted to me on a physical level, rather than a spiritual one. Obviously I don't have a problem with people being attracted to each other (otherwise, "It's Hip to be Hispanic" would never have been posted), but making it known to someone that you want them physically through the use of gestures, or verbally, just makes me feel slightly ill. I have been described as an 'Ice Queen', because I refuse to smile at men who are obviously checking me out. I'm not, really. It just... scares me, as I've said.
Now, I'm not here to stop the World from doing/liking whoever/whatever they want. Each to their own, honestly, I don't judge other people on these things. They just scare the innocent being that is me. Even though it's really cliche, I sometimes listen to Michael Buble's song (aforementioned in this blog title) to cheer myself up. I wish I could say "I'm okay going through life as a single person, it's all gee!" but I can't. I have such high standards when it comes to men, but it's only because I refuse to compromise myself, and what I want.
Despite the crazy odds, I hold onto the hope the one day I'll meet a guy who will accept and love me for all my weird and innocent quirks, and who I'll be able to accept and love in return.
I just haven't met him yet.

Dear Japan, I love you... and Blogger.

It's really quite sad. Now that I've started blogging, I can't stop. Every single thought I have, now has a follw-up thought of "I wonder if I should talk about this in my blog. Maybe I should go and blog, like right now. Maybe I shouldn't do that Maths revision, because, you know, I could be blogging."
I must say, I very easily get obsessed with things. I remember when I first saw The Phantom of the Opera on stage. Dear Lord, for about six months, literally everything I talked about had something to do with Phantom. Even things such as homework, for example: "Hey [anonymous], did you do the English homework. It sucked. Just like the garish light of day does. ZOMG PHANTOM REFERENCE!"
I'll write more about my phangirl-ness another time, because that wasn't what I gave up valuable sleeping time on a Sunday night to talk about.
This post is dedicated to the poor, unfortunate country of Japan.
Japan has been good to me. Really, really good to me. It has been responsible for the inventions of many of my favourite things, most notably, ANIME. Now, anime is not something that I ever thought I would get into, but after a good friend [shoutout to GoJo C! Even though she'll probably never read this] persuaded me to watch Death Note last year, I became completely hooked. Since that time, I've dedicated hours and hours of my valuable time to watching animes episodes. Ah, I look back with fond memories on the days when I would spend 5 hours in a day watching InuYasha. What? It was just that good. Sadly, I gave up and moved on after episode 74, but it's such a good show (albeit filled with, well, filler), I'm sure I shall return and finish it someday. Hopefully, in the not too distant future.
Yet again, I have steered off topic. No wonder it takes me a good five hours just to write a 1000 word English assignment.
Back on track! Unless you have been living under a rock (or in a labyrinth. See? I still have complusions to reference Phantom all the time) for the past few days, you would know that Japan has been hit crazily hard by natural disasters. Now, I thought the flooding and bushfires that Australia had been experiencing just a few months ago were bad. Then, I saw the earthquakes that had occured in Christchurch, and I was shocked again. Well, it seems like Japan has upstaged both Australia and New Zealand. Someone posted "Damn over-achieving Asians, had to upstage us" on Facebook. The cultural stereotype, applied for comedic effect in such a devestating context made me chuckle.
Seriously though, poor Japan! I've never really known anyone who lived there. Sure, I once had a Japanese exchange student buddy at school for a week a few days ago [oh dear anonymousperson, I hope you are okay], which, might I add, was an awesome experience, but it's not like I am in direct contact with anyone living there. Despite this, I'm feeling especially moved by it all. Maybe it's just the comprehension of so great a loss. Maybe it's the fact that I often have an unhealthy amount of empathy. Maybe it's just because I like Japan. Maybe it's a combination of all these things. All I know is, if you're able to remain unmoved by events such as this, just because you're not personally affected, you must be pretty heartless.
On top of the pain I feel for the Japanese people, is a feeling of worry for my own country. So, nuclear powerplants + earthquakes = disaster. C'mon people, the Earthquake ruined the cooler in a nuclear powerplant, and now it looks as though there's going to be a meltdown. People have already been diagnosed with radiation poisoning, and if there is a full-blown meltdown, the consequences could be endless. Think back to Chernobyl. When things went bad there, things went really, really bad. The winds blew over a large area of Europe and America, making it pretty much a global nuclear disaster, which the full impact of is still unknown.
Yeah, see, this is why I'm against people buiding Nuclear Powerstations in my country. To my knowledge, there's only one, and I hope it stays that was. Messing with radiation is never, ever good. As an example of how much I believe that, I will tell you that I never talk on my mobile phone for more than five minutes and I will not even stand within 5m of the microwave when it is on. Ever. I'm a smart cookie. I've studied Nuclear Physics, and, in turn, what can happen when things get out of control. It's not good, seriously.
Et hem. Moving away from my anti-nuclear rant. The people of Japan need everyone's support. As an unemployed, senior highschool student, there's not too much I can do in terms of monetary assistance, but what I can do it pray. So, pray I shall. I'm not really sure of the results of prayer (I often ask for selfish or undoable things, so it's not supprising that God ignores me. Though, there have been occasions when I've felt my prayers answered in the most unusual and amazing ways), but surely sending your thoughts to a people in need, as asking a devine creator to help them cannot be a bad thing.
So, dear Japan, may you recover as quickly as a musician plays demisemiquavers in cut common. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
