Ch-ch-changes (or how to semi-seduce your own blog without even trying)

Blogger, we have to talk. We've been a little distant these past few months, and I want you to know it's not you, it's me. Ha! Who am I kidding, it's you. But you're lucky, because I'm going to give you a second chance. What's this you say? You don't want my second chance because I've been neglecting your needs and leaving you lonely? You want me to promise to be a better blog-runner? Well then, this is awkward, because I didn't think we had a committal sort of relationship. How about we start our relationship from the very beginning again? After all, we've been apart for a very long time and I've changed a lot.

Where shall I start? Hi, my name is Pheebes. Actually, it's not, but for the past few years I've liked to imagine that it is. I've been getting called by the c-word (being my real name, not a term for a woman's vagina) so much recently that after 18 years on this planet, I'm almost starting to accept that it's actually my name. Oh the strangeness! Oh the humanity!

Ah right, I should say something other than my name. Maybe it would be easier to start with the things about me that are still the same.

- Green is still my favourite colour
- I still have strong, annoying opinions on everything
- Short hair is still hot on me and all girls in general
- I still live in the same city and have some of the same friends
- As a general rule, I'm still not really attracted to people
- Still nocturnal (but more of a morning person)
- And I still get myself into the most ridiculous situations

Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire I am suddenly having a crisis of the self, because I just realised that I cannot think of anything else about myself that hasn't changed since I last blogged here. So let's start the introduction again.

Hi, I'm the artist formally known as Pheebes.
- I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Environmental Management at a university that's in the middle of a forest.
- My favourite band is The Smiths and I think that Morrissey is the most perfectly imperfect person currently walking this planet.
- I genuinely enjoy studying what I do and am convinced that one day I can make a difference to this world, even if it's in a small way.
- I'm just starting to get into environmental and conservation volunteering and the more I learn about the problems in the biosphere, the more of a greenie I become.
- I just made myself a liqueur affogato and it was awesome. Liqueur affogatos are actually my favourite drink.
- The first night I ever went out to a bar/club I met the guy who's my current boyfriend and we started dating a few days later.
- The fact that I was attracted to him proved to me that I'm capable of being attracted to people. Which was huge because I didn't know this was actually possible. I actually have a sexuality, guys!
- My boyfriend is a singer, dancer, aerospace engineer, socialite, space enthusiast and total hottie (by which I mean nerd.) He's also currently working in Germany as a rocket scientist and there's a 3.5 year age gap between us.
- This sucks a little. I don't really enjoy long-distance relationships /dramatically flips a table/
- I do enjoy going out and night and drinking in small amounts
- Don't watch anime anymore!
- I no longer have much of a social phobia! Hoorah!
- I allow for moral grey areas a little more than I used to. Hoorah? Boo? You decide.
- I just did a Kinsey Sexuality Scale Test and it said "The test failed to match you to a Kinsey Type profile. Either you answered some questions wrong, or you are a very unusual person." Even tests think I'm an unusual person
- I'm currently recovering from anorexia, and recovery is going very well at the moment
- At the end of last year I lost 10kg in the very short period of a month and have put about 2kg of that back on
- I listen to a lot more mainstream music than I used to. This more than mildly disturbs me
- My kitten Pippy is now a crazy adult cat
- I'm extremely comfortable with the topics of body image and sexuality, which I did not used to be at all
- I've mostly stopped appearance-bashing myself, though my anorexia still gives me a bit of an obsession with how flat my stomach does or doesn't look
- But I no longer hate my own face! Yay!
- This probably has a lot to do with the fact that I no longer have acne. Yay x 12735261837!
- I don't hate the world
- I have goals and ambitions!!! Finally!!!
- My life, my past struggles and myself are all things that I am proud of
- I have my P2 manual driver's license
- Most importantly, I finally have a sense of self worth, and honestly believe that I should always fight for me

So Blogger, what do you think? Are you still keen on me? Do you think I'll still be able to provide you with strange and amusing anecdotes. Only time will tell, but for now let's just agree to start seeing each other again. Let's keep it casual and see where it goes; we could very well have something beautiful again!

Whimsical, Wayward and Willful: Or, how to survive half a year without ambitions

A.N: In the name of all large swords, it has been a long time since I was last here! Amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life, I happened to remember this blog, finally. More to the point, it's getting close to midnight and my brain tends to lead me in all kinds of queer directions after the clock so much as strikes 10. Or 9. Or 8. Or any time really. It's rather inconsistent in that fashion. Ah, inconsistency! That is what has led me to this tale of woe! Or perhaps it is not the primary cause. You, dear reader, dissect the post and decide.
I can't stand writing posts merely about everyday life, but seeing as I have neglected to do so for the past six months, now might be a good time to start.

*~*
Once upon a time, there was a young maiden. For all her life, the girl had lived far from town, in a sheltered environment amongst those she loved most. Her only education was at small schools, with small communities of  their own, cut off from the big city. In this way she continued to live, dreaming about the day she could leave to seek her fortune in the big city, and achieve wonderful things. On the day of her seventeenth birthday, she felt a mix of nostalgia and excitement, as she prepared to leave her school days behind her. With the arrival of the new year, she set off to the largest university in the city, eager to forget the young person she had been and start anew.

But alas, things did not go as the young maiden had planned. Though she met many new people and tried many new things in her quest to find her 'true new' self, something was not right. Within a month of university she realised that she had betrayed her true feelings and values while caught in the hype of new experiences. And she was ashamed. Most shameful to herself was her short-lived dalliance. It was ridiculous. She had not liked the boy. She had completely disagreed with his values and somewhat loose morals. She had not been attracted to him at all, rather on the contrary. And yet, caught up in the feeling that she needed to try new things, and flattered, because her sheltered life had led her to believe that no one could ever care for her, she had a momentary lapse. However, before the month was out, she awoke from her daze and promptly ended things. Though she had done nothing of an inappropriate nature and remained pure, the girl could not shake the feeling of revulsion that she had been so foolish and naive as to be even slightly romantically involved with someone whom she had no feelings for. The consequences of such feelings led her to become an asexual feminist moralist, but that's another tale.

Fresh out of her failed phase of reinvention, the girl remembered something. She was at university to study! And with subjects in Japanese, western literature and tourism, there was much study to be done. Though the workload was heavy, the fair maiden... well, sometimes she worked hard and other times she didn't. But she pulled through, and that is what counted. Though she liked her courses well enough and considered herself quite skilled at them, the maiden still felt that she was missing something in her life. An existentially meaningful ritual structure? Definitely. A career that she wanted for the future? Undoubtedly. The ability to express the painful emotions she was feeling to anyone around her? Completely. But perhaps what was most absent from her life was purpose. Even if she were to see her degree through to the end, a career in tourism isn't exactly something that will make a meaningful difference, is it now reader?

In many ways, she missed music. She missed the security it provided her. She missed how it made her feel accomplished. She missed the little things, like being able to thoroughly analyse any piece of music when listening to it. But most of all, she missed the people whom she had shared her music experiences with. Even with these feelings, she knew that she could not return to the old days, and so she continued on her journey.

Back in the maiden's home, cracks were beginning to show in the sheltered paradise. Negative work environments and the possibly terminal illness of both their sets of parents set her respective parents on edge. Though, this tale has a slightly happier ending, with the family unit remaining strong and supporting each other, and the hard, but effective treatment of one of the maiden's grandparent's illness. But despite their robust nature, the family knew that they would need to support each other more than ever if they were to overcome their personal hurdles and survive the year.

Though she was acquainted with quite a number of people, the girl soon began to feel isolated, depressed and lonely. For the first time in her life, she considered escaping this cruel world. Just before everything was about to become too much, she was offered a job. It was a lowly job delivering pizza, but for a time it gave the girl some of her life's much needed purpose, and her mindset improved. However, the harsh environment of the job and the damage it led to being inflicted on her car quickly overpowered any good feelings she had towards her employment. Working many hours, her contact with people became even more sparse, and she began to feel alone again. Within two months, with twice-dented car and a little cash, her parents withdrew their consent for her working at the establishment and she was forced to leave. Despite this, she felt happy to have saved a little money and to have contributed something for a small amount of time. Liberation from her job had rejuvenated her spirits. And, feeling as such, she now prepares to start her second semester at the big university.

*~*

That should pretty much be a (very, very abridged) wrap of the past few months. I've made quite a few new friends and very sadly lost one old one. It's been quite the hard reality to face, because I always had the 'real' world depicted to me as a place where I could finally be accepted, without being subject to the juvenile opinions of teenagers. And I suppose that this is true, but I have been kicked in the pants everyday in so many ways that I didn't even know were possible. It really does annoy me to admit it, but the year thus far has been far more negative than positive. Simultaneously, this has made me appreciate the positives all the more, which is certainly good for character building! I also feel like, although I've made a lot of mistakes this year, I'm more sure of who I am because of them. I may still have no idea about my purpose and direction in life but hey, at least I know myself. So, let's have some happy cheers anyway.

I titled this 'how to survive without ambitions' because, obviously, I have managed to survive this semester without any. It's definitely not a recommended way to live your life, but it is doable. My top tips for if you're struggling to find long-term goals are.

1. Take things day-by-day. It's always good to plan for the future, but if you have no idea about what you want it to hold, chances are it's better for you to focus on more short-term goals. Such as "today I want to have a burrito." I found I felt best when I created goals around exercise, study and family, but it's different for everyone.

2. Convince yourself that there's at least something you want in your future life, even if it is "In 5 years time, I want to walk down the streets of Barcelona dressed as a horse." Because, that's something we should all strive for.

3. If the above fails, declare yourself a vagabond and laugh heartily.

4. Cry and whinge about it all day, every day. The tears will have to dry up one day, and then you'll be ready to head in one direction. Get it? I shall accept all awards for terrible 1D puns.

5. Don't say YOLO. Really. It's a stupid acronym used by people to justify any immoral or unintelligent behaviour. Besides, reminding yourself that you only have one life when you're wasting it. De-press-ing. And no one likes a depresspot.

In other news, it's actually felt really wonderful to be writing for this blog again. I need to do some more fine-tuning on the layout if I'm going to use it again, but it honestly feels good to be back. Who knows for how long, seeing as I'm so inconsistent. So, let's enjoy this moment right now. One when I'm back in the bloggerverse.

Oh, did I mention that I'm strongly considering changing degrees at the end of the year. Because I am. As of yesterday. Whoot. Remember what I said about inconsistency? Inconsistencyyyyy, turning saints into the sea, swimming through sick luuuullabies, choking your aaaalibis. Ah! You're still here, listening to me basterdising Mr. Brightside by changing all of one word. I know, I know, I'm ashamed of me too. But, you'll get over it. And you shall love me for it. Maybe? Completely and utterly? My brain if definitely gone now, so I shall leave you.

That's all for today, folks! Keep tuned for more on the completely unpredictable whims of you friendly neighbourhood [demisemiquavergirl]. Until next time, stay full of ninja goodness.

New Years' Revolutions

Greetings Earthlings, I come in pieces. Having returned from my month long overseas trip of magnificence, I am now able to reflect on my life with a little more understanding of how little it means in the scheme of things (how fun). Never fear, I don't mean this in a gloomy way. More of a "holy Shi'ite persons, the world is a big place that's been around for a darn long time." I mean, I saw stuff that has been around since before Jesus. In Brisbane, you're lucky to see something that existed before me. So, because of this new perspective, I've been able to compose a decent list of New Years' resolutions, for the first time ever. Usually my list looks like this:

- Work harder at school (lol jks who am I kidding, I work harder than most people and I don't want to put in any additional effort)
- See lots of live theatre without having to pay for it
- Okay, pay for some of the theatre if I have to
- Have a social life
- I've changed my mind. I don't want a social life, just lots of good TV so I can forget I don't have a social life
- Fall in love. Fall in like? SHARE EYE CONTACT WITH SOMEONE IN A FRIENDLY MANNER?
- Find something substantial to put on next year's resolution list

But with a view like this on the NYE just past, how could I not write something with just a fragment more substance?

Going to the Trevi Fountain was actually a nightly thing while I was in Rome, because it was only a few streets down from where I was staying. Funnily enough, it was actually less busy than usual on NYE, but that's a story for another time. It certainly was a beautiful, albeit crowded, place to visit. Sadly, I couldn't party hard, because I had to catch a flight to Hong Kong the next day. This didn't stop the people in the apartment above us, though. They decided they'd like to set off mini-bombs and throw cartons of oranges all over the street. I don't know what was with the oranges. Maybe someone was personally offended by an orange once, so they took out their rage by throwing dozens of them to the streets? I'd wager money on drunkenness, but I prefer the first hypothesis.

Before I (finally) get into the resolutions, I'd like to bore you reflect a little upon the year that has been. It'll be short, I swear. I think the best way to describe that past twelve months is "bittersweet." I have this memory from about a year ago. My clicky clique and I all met up at Tenuto Tuo's place a few days before Year 12 started, met his then boyfriend, played Wii and just had a really good time. I remember thinking how everyone seemed so much more comfortable in themselves than I'd ever seen them before, and how ready we all seemed to leave school. This time a year later, I feel more inclined to say the opposite. The past year has been quite the challenge and I feel like it has broken a lot of people. Not beyond repair, but I think most people have cracks from the stress and just the general peculiarity of the year. I've gone through all the phases: confidence, apathy, frustration, apathy, determination, apathy, hurt, apathy, confusion, apathy, relief. Overall, I'd say I've been way too apathetic to life. It's the only reason I came out of this year much more unscathed than most: because I simply didn't care. That's not to say that I was all "I hate the world, diiiiiiiiiie everyone, diiiiiiiiie school, diiiiiiiiie!" although I am a terrible whinger at times! My problem is that I think in a past tense. Instead of thinking "Wow, this is amazing!" or "Wow, this can suck my... thumb" I think "In a few hours this will all be over, and I'll be in bed." And this is okay for getting through tough times, but it's not a satisfying way to live life. Therefore my first resolution is:

Have more enthusiasm!~ And yes, live for the moment a little more.

My social phobia has stopped me from doing a fair bit this year. Considerably less than last year, but it's still been a hindrance. Although it's slowly melting away, I'd like to start the new year by smashing it to pieces, so my next resolution is:

Talk to anyone you feel like. Say what you want to. Don't fear judgement. Have confidence in your own opinion and worth.

As well as gaining confidence, I need to take on more responsibility. I've lived a happy life with my parents and sister thus far, and although I don't rely on anyone too much emotionally, I need to learn to fend for myself in the world. I need to grow up, actually become an adult and look after myself. So, my third resolution is:

Become more financially independent and self-sufficient.

I also need to clean up my language. No self, it is not okay to swear in every single sentence, even if it is only in your mind. It also ruins long, persuasive sentences when you swear. But, damn fuck shit, it's so habitual. I've been saying this for five years, but I will conquer my potty mouth!

Swear less. A lot less.

My negative attitude has also ruined many experiences that would have otherwise been pleasant over the past few years. Gahn, I can be such a downer sometimes. And yet, so hyper others. I swear I'm not bipolar! Anyway, my natural facial expression seems to be a either a scowl, or look of apathy, even if I'm thinking nice happy thoughts or feeling good. So, I'm going to make sure I change it to a slight smile! And I'm going to overcome my mind battles and think of everything in a nicer light. Snarking can be cool, but not constantly.

Adopt a more positive attitude. Be happier!

I've been told by many people that I'm the sort of person who has the ability to achieve anything in the world, no matter how great or impossible it may seem. And not even in the way that you say it to every decent-seeming person. It's been... weird. But I've also been told that my lack of self-confidence stops me from doing anything, and it's true. I don't really have confidence in my ability to do anything, and it shows in everything I do. But, I want to love myself again! I don't mean that I want to have an ego complex, I just want to be able to accept myself for who I am, and realise that I'm not useless. Yes, I'm clumsy and forgetful, but I'm also talented and hard-working. Whoa, that was hard to write. But I want it to get easier! And it will get easier. This year, I will learn to love myself!

Have confidence in yourself. Love yourself for who you are, mistakes and all. Everyone makes mistakes, it doesn't make you worthless or incompetent.

Aaaand, now for something more practical. I've had my Learner's licence for just over a year now, and I've managed to drive the required 100 hours, but I still need 2 hours of night driving. Luckily, my travel hasn't really affected my driving skills at all, so I should be able to send in my logbook and try for a licence in the next few months. The university I'm going to go to is quite a far way away. Well, not really, it's just hard for me to get to. I live rurally, which mean I'm far out from the city and any form of public transport. Right now, if I want to drive anywhere, it has to be with my parents. So I really want to get my licence and save up for a car so I can have some freedom in how I get around! If I don't, I'll have to leave at 6a.m with my parents every morning. I'll drive to catch a bus, to interchange, to catch a train to get to uni. And then I'll have to do that to get home. Every single day I have a class or lecture. Fun, fun, fun, fun.

Get your Ps and save for a car.

There's this one I should also add in. Le sigh. I need to get fit. I have a perfect BMI and I'm not fat, but I am so unfit it's not funny. I see so little sunlight that I have to take vitamin D supplements, and I live in Australia. Mind you, I purposefully avoid the sun because other medication I take makes me super-sun-sensitive. And I'm pale as, so I burn easily. But enough with the excuses! I've never been fit in my life, and I need to stop using the excuse "I don't need to be fit, because I'm an academic!" to try and get out of it. Physical health is important too. This year is the year to fix it!

Get fit and be active!

I'm rather terrible at staying in touch with people. My low self confidence causes me to not really want to message anyone, like ever. Even if they're my closest friends. So I'll often stay away from social networking for days or weeks at a time. I know, I'm a bad person. But there are so many people that I've seen every day for the past few years that I won't be in contact with ever again if I don't make the effort. It's time for me to stand up, and make sure I stick with the people I love. I will not let my stupid esteem be the reason for losing contact with wonderful people!

Stay in contact with school friends.

I think these can all be summed up in one single goal. Do I intend to do it? Oh heck yes. Do I think I will do it? Who knows. We'll just have to wait and see.

Let go of fear. Live your life to the fullest.

GRANT ME THE POWER TO REVOLUTIONISE THE WOOOOOORLD. I'm sorry, I watched way too much Revolutionary Girl Utena tonight, so I just had to.Waaah, nobody would have watched that show. But you all should, because it's amazing. That is, if you don't mind lots of symbolism, YMMV lesbianism, incest, metaphysical elements and old animation. But it really is a masterpiece. Go watch it. Now. I'm kidding, dark and disturbing magical girl animes are just my thing. Who am I kidding? I love mindscrew in general.

That's all folks. Hopefully I'll be back soon, happily blogging on the random adventures I had in Europe and Hong Kong. But for now, I won't say sayonara, because I know we shall meet again~

Perhaps you can afford more, with the Vicomte de Changney as your patron

Hello, cherub children. The topic of today's post is the word 'more'. Say it with me, M-O-R-E. No, Excalibur, 'MOAR' is not a word. And before you ask, we are not talking about moors, as in people of mixed Arab and Berber descent, or moor as in the anchoring of a ship. Excalibur keeps exclaiming 'MOOOAAAAR!' at me, so I looked it up on dictionary.reference.com. Apparently, these are the related searches.

Yeah, I totally see how Raptor Jesus and 4chan relate to today's topic. Apparently, dictionary.com thinks that my ninja is not an idiot though, because...

my ninja is an idiot

No results found for my ninja is an idiot:
Did you mean nonaccented?
Oh, how silly of me, of course I meant 'nonaccented'. It's okay Xcali, I don't really think you're an idiot. Even though you can't spell for your life. Blame Lolcats! Bwaha. Oh right, reality. Back to my prompt of 'more'. I really was going to blog without purpose, but those style of posts always seem to be so much lamer, don't you think? Oh drat, I was just about to get to the point of this post, Excalibur wars and stuff. I think he's still annoyed that I put my red sock in his whites-wash. Maybe it's the idiot comment. Or maybe it's because I don't come around here often enough any more. It's a relationship breakdown, people!

I STILL LOVE YOU, EXCALIBUR! <3

Et hem. The girl talking to the blog ninja maintains her dignity. Ohoh, I think I may have already posted this, but methinks can post on blogs with an open ID now, so yayteimz being able to comment again! Now that I've gotten some of the randomness out of the way, let the Order of the Phoenix odered post begin!

More Stress

I thought I'd get the boring one out of the way first. I can now count the days until QCS on my fingers and toes, which is very scary. I think I'm more scared of the fact that everyone in my grade is all chilled and like "Biggest test of my schooling life coming up? Cool story bro..." We were practicing for it today, and most of the class just copied the answers from the book, instead of actually working, and using those to check their answers. These are the people who can bring my OP down by up to 3 places. I'd insert a hearty FML here, but I'm not exactly that much more motivated than they are. Not to be cocky, but I am generally more intelligent. Ah, the moment when you walking into a room and note to yourself that your intellectual capacity is higher than all of the 20 odd others combined. I kid, I kid, I'm not that much of a brainiac, and most people I know are quite intelligent. There are just a lot of lazies in my grade.

More Formal Highs and Woes

I'm a queen with a paper cutter. Last night, I cut all of the remaining 100-and-something invites for the formal. They still need to be glued together, and have bows pinned on them, but it was still a relieving thing to have done. I'd say around a third of all the invites have been completed now, and they're looking pretty snazzy, if I do say so myself. It's been a bit of a shizball having to give up my afternoon to make formal invites, but I don't regret it. This is lucky, because I'll probably have to spend countless more completing them. I finally got my dress after five months of waiting. I must say, it does look pretty stunning on me, even if it is the wrong colour, and not what I would have expected to wear to the formal. No doubt, I'll end up dropping food on it anyway. Speaking of, which, I was looking at the menu today with nath_alex01, and man, we didn't even know what have of the stuff on there was. Apparently even Google was confused as to what bocconcini was, and spell-check didn't even recognise it as a word, so we should be excused for that one. It's a cheese made from the milk of water buffalo, according to sauces sources. To me, it sounds so delightfully strange, I'd love to have it at the formal, if only for the novelty factor. I didn't really like much of what was on the menu, so I'll probably be sipping their complimentary expresso and claiming to be 'on a diet' all night. It's of no consequence, though, because it's going to be an amazing night no matter what. I've worked too hard for it to not!

POTTERMORE

If you've had your head in the sand and totally missed the whole Pottermore thing, then... where have you been? Actually, I keep on stumbling across the big events for it by accident. I waited to watch the release video for it because someone posted the link on Facebook 15mins before it was put to air. I came across the Early Access week thing because one of my groups on Facebook also just happened to be talking about it. And I happened to be there at just the right time when it was open to the first million people of the public. And I accidentally made two accounts on two different email addresses, because I didn't think one had worked. And they both got chosen for early access, so I'm pretty pumped. Now, just to wait a few darn months until they send me my Welcome email and let me use the site. Apparently they're staggering their early access. My guess is because people would go nuts and the site would crash if they didn't. It's not even open yet and it's already crashed multiple times from excessive demand. To be honest, I'm not even sure what it is. From their blog, I get the impression that it's a site where you play through the Harry Potter book series in a game-multiple-path-virtual-book-thing. They say it's not for social networking, but it's not strictly a game either. Whatever it is, I've been pretty lucky with it so far, so I'm going to keep checking for more progress!

More Out of Life

As of today, I have only 60 days left of school! I really am feeling excessively positive at the moment. Last weekend, I went to that large-and-scary-university open day, and I found that I really liked it there. I ended up filling in my QTAC preferences that day, and they're as follows.

1. Bachelor of Arts/ Bachelor of International Hotel and Tourism Management
2. Bachelor of International Studies
3. Bachelor of International Studies (the UNE one. Sigh.)
4. Bachelor of Event and Convention Management
5. Bachelor of Arts
6. Bachelor of Business (International Hotel and Tourism Management)

It was very relieving to know that I've actually made some choices as to where I'm aiming to go next year, as opposed to whinging and blindly searching. Even if I have the worst of the school year still to go, I can see the end is in sight, so I'm learning to be more positive and less complaintative about school. LOLjks, I haven't stopped complaining, but I am appreciating my time there more. I've been doing more lately, and although it has been harder in a lot of ways, it has also been much more rewarding.

More Sickness

Okay, so this just had to get a section of it's own. Last week was sickness crazy, and I ended up taking a whole three days off school. I don't think I've taken that many consecutive days off in years, if ever. And yesterday was just... yeah. I had me some bad cramps. So much so that I nearly threw up. I staggered up to my school bathrooms, only to find that they were closed. So I lent on the bubblers for a few minutes and let water splash on my face. I tried to make it down the hill to get to the sickbay at the office, but I nearly collapsed, so I had to rest against a tree. Seriously, I must have looked like I was either drunk or dying. By the time I did make it to sickbay, I was green in the face, and grey around the eyes. I lay down, pulled up a blanket and a pillow, made myself a heat pack (tsk. The office ladies forgot about me) and passed out from the pain. I woke up three hours later with the office lady telling me that she'd called my mother. Luckily, when I woke up the pain was gone. Apparently my friends were looking for me, because they thought I may have passed out somewhere else, or been kidnapped. Bless.

More InuYasha ^^

So, I'm kinda proud of myself for making it up to episode 92 of InuYasha. This means I have... 75 episodes to go! Plus The Final Act, of course. I still plan to finish this anime before I finish school. It's pretty unlikely, seeing as it has taken me a good 10 months just to watch the first 92 episodes, but I may as well try. I started reading the manga the other day too. Gotta love downloading 15 volumes of manga when you should be working on a Music Extension thesis. I ended up getting my thesis done anyway, so I can justify the downloading to myself. Honestly, it's going to take a long time to read, but I'm really enjoying it. I should get back into shorter animes again, but eh, I'm loving InuYasha too much at the moment. I'm totally proud of myself for having some rather interesting not-totally-cannon ships in this show too. My order of favourite ships has turned upside-down from what it originally was. It is currently (exclusing my many one-sided ships):

1. NarakuxKikyou (biggest guilty pleasure ship ever. Oh dear.)
2. SesshomaruxKagura
3. MirokuxSango
4. InuYashaxKagome

Because you all care so much about my shipping preferences. I was watching episode 2 of The Final Act, and I could not get over show shiptastic Kagura's death was. You really shouldn't be squeeing at someone's death, but seriously, she died happy because she got to see Sesshy one last time. Before that scene, I thought any shippy-ness between them was all in my head. It was awesome to have some real hintage.

That's all there is; there isn't any more

I've run out of things to ramble about, kiddiewinkles. This is your friendly neighbourhood demsemiquavergirl and her moody ninja, signing out. Until next time, amigos! @>`-,--

Trivia: The title of this post comes from Act 1, Scene 2 of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. It was the first thing that came to mind when I was trying to think of a quote that involved the word 'more'. Yes, I shall be a Phantom Phan for life.

Also, Blogger keeps effing up my formatting. If this post seems really, really ill formatted, I apologise. I'm doing my best to fix it.
Update: Fixed!

What the tertiary education?

I really don't seem to have much luck in life. It took me my entire highschool life up until now to decide what I wanted to do next year. During the past five years, I've changed what profession I wanted to go into so many times, I've lost count. Last week alone, I changed what I wanted to do and what university I wanted to go to five times, no joke. But yesterday, I suddenly found my ideal course and University. Isn't it wonderful? The only problem is... It's in the middle of New South freakin' Wales. Usually when you are choosing a tertiary study place thing, you go "These are the ones in my city. I'll go to one of them." But, because I'm a special kid, I can't seem to operate like that.

I went to this careers expo on the weekend, and didn't really come across anything spectacular, as always. But yesterday I was flipping through some of the course brochures I'd picked up, and was drawn to the vibrant cover of the University of New England one. Normally, for anonimity's sake, I don't mention names of places, but I'm nowhere near it, so that doesn't exactly give much away. Turns out UNE has the most amazing International Studies degree, and the whole place is just beautiful. I completely fell in love with it. Seeing as I have pretty much no money, and I am, let's say, rather young, there is no way that I could move there next year. So, in the time that I should have been sleeping, I concocted an amazing plan: study the first year of a Diploma in Languages (Spanish) in mah city, and spend the rest of my time working to get enough money to make the move. I know, I am just so incredibly intelligent. I pride myself on the fact that everyone else was like "Yeah, I'm going to one of the big three universities in our state" and I was all "Stuff y'all, I'm heading somewhere different." But, let's face it, I've never been one to follow what everyone else is doing. I like to do my own thang.

So yes, despite the strangeness of the situation, I'd just like to sit here and gloat for a bit anout my awesome planning for my future. Not that my planning has really been that great. I mean, I've changed what course I wanted to do so many times. I think that's what made finding 'the one' more satisfying. No one told me to go there. No one told me to do that. At the time, I didn't even know of anyone who would be interested in going to university there. It was all my choice. And that's what makes me so satisfied with it.

I'm hoping that university forces me to be social or something. I mean, I like talking to people, but in moderation. At least if I'm not studying full time next year, I won't have to be stuck in books so much, which will be awesome. But, I should stop thinking of that. The mother of all anti-ninja total lamities is coming up in 6 weeks. Sitting a test that pretty much determines what I can do for the next few years? The word I'm looking fr here is 'shizballsofhorrible'. 'Scary' for all you people that are DSG-speak impared. Ooh, I should totally have my own language. That would be awetasticness. I wonder if there are people in the world who are annoyed by the use of such joint-words. Please excuse me while I go and muse about this...

... okay, I'm done. I haven't blogged in a while, so I should probably insert something about the random shiz that has been going o in my life. My school is having an Academic Assembly, and I'm getting an academic award. I don't know how, but I've managed to pull it off once again. Well, I do know how; it was through hard work, persistence and a lot of whinging. As much as I am looking forward to getting out of it, I've realised that I'll miss school when I leave. I know, sentimentality.

I shall cut this off before I go all cheesy on you. Hopefully I'll be back to blogging regularly soon, and have some interesting and fun shizzywobble to share. Buenos noches!

Let's Get Shizzywobble.

Goodness, gracious, great balls of ninja! It feels like so long since I last blogged! Actually, I haven't really being much on the social media side lately. But, I now feel compelled and obliged to blog, because I know just how deprived you've all been. What's that I hear? People screaming that they concur. Oh wait, that's just silence and my imagination. Mah bad! Well now, this is thoroughly awkward. Wait, you want me to keep blogging anyway? Oh this is amazing, tears of gratitude are pouring down my face.

Yeah, I don't even know what that was just then. See now, this is what happens when I decide to blog the day before I have to return to school. My brain is more than a little mixed up and fuzzy. On the pupil free day, I usually decide to do all the school-related things I should have been doing on the holidays. Well, I decide to do them, but I don't actually do them, because I'm lazy and unmotivated like that. Today I spent an hour practicing clarinet, which is the longest practice session I've had in quite a while. What can I say? I've been very uninspired. I wanted to practice oboe, but you know, the repair people didn't fix it at all, so I can't. Thanks guys, I really appreciate you not fixing my instrument.

I guess that gives me an excuse to not play it then. It's a shame that the one time I do feel like playing it, I can't. Well, not unless I'm comfortable playing it with half the note coming out incredibly airy and ridiculously flat. Whatevs. I'm going to read Macbeth soon, so I can get ahead for English. Not that I need to read it or anything, I just want to do it to annoy the other English teacher. He can't stand it when our class is ahead. That's right, I am maniacally laughing mwahahaha.

Unlike most "Oh-crap-tomorrow-my-holidays-end-and-I'm-back-at-school" days, I'm not feeling depressed. Seeing as the upcoming term is the most important and stressful in my school life, I probably should be. And, you know, there's the dreaded QCS test, which decides whether I can get into the courses I want to at uni. Plus, the majority of my marks come from this term, and it's just about my last chance to ensure I get an academic award. Which I won't, for the first time ever. Anyway, all of that loveliness aside, I'm feeling pretty pumped! I actually want to go back to school and try my best, and help anyone who isn't feeling that way feel happy. Which is going to be hard, because I guarantee that most people will come to school thoroughly depressed tomorrow. I'm sure my face will cheer them up lol jks it'll make them want to die even more.

This term is going to be my term! When I feel down, and I'm doubting myself, I'm going to re-read this, and get my confidence back up. My main problem with school this year has been whether or not I should try hard. Because, it's common knowledge that I am prone to killing myself over assignments (metaphorically. You didn't really think I was dead, did you?) and whinging about them a whole lot. So, I was all "Well, maybe I should slack off. That might make me happy." But, no-one likes a lazy bum. This term, I'm going to try my best, no matter what happens!

They say that your teenage years are the best years of your life. Well, I sure as heck don't know who 'they' are, and why they have the authority to tell all people when the best part of their lives are, but I do not believe this one bit. In my experience, teenage hood has been by far, the toughest and most stressful time of my life. Not only do you have to worry about a large workload, and making friends, but you're stuck in the strange purgatory. You're not a child, but you're not an adult either. This usually means that people act immature like children, but do things that adults do. I have always been frustrated by this. Then again, I've always been a bit of a special k. I will admit, I'm quite happy with where I am in life at the moment, but things can always be improved. I'm actually looking forward to improving them. I don't know what's up with the happy-sparkles optimistic mood at the moment, but I'm enjoying it.

There is much that I could blog about, but I need to go prepare for tomorrow. Overall, my holidays have been much more eventful than I thought they would be. In many different ways, I have learnt a lot about myself (lolz, mostly through emotionally purging on my parents. Pity those poor people.) Ohohoh! Guess what guys! I'm thinking of majoring in Philosophy next year. Not that it is really a career-leading thing, but hey, critical thinking is always sought after. I'll probably go with the Arts/International Hotel and Tourism Management, and end up doing Events Management. But, that's cool, because I'm good at it, and I do love organising things. Hopefully learning Spanish will also give me international opportunities, because I don't want to stay in Australia my whole life. I mean, it's awesomeballs of amazing here, but I want to see the world. And seriously, with Gillard in power, who would want to stick around? Worst Prime Minister ever? I think so. Oooh, now I've gone all political on you all.

Well, that was meant to be my concluding paragraph, but I can't very well end on Gillard. That would be a disgrace to everyone. I would like to add that I think that in the upcoming two months, everyone is going to need to be there for each other oh-so-much. So those unfortunate kiddiewinkles that get to see my sunshiney self at school every day, let's all help each other out and try our best! On that note, I shall leave you fine readers. Ciao for now!

What about my dreams?

I'm starting to think I accidentally inhaled some of the marijuana my neighbour was smoking on his front porch the other day. Seriously guys, I had the strangest dream the other night, after my stargazing times. I stayed out looks at the stars for a good hour, while my lovely neighbour was getting high, not too far away. I didn't even realise this until my dear Mama came out and asked "Pff! Is [WC] smoking the pot? Because it seriously smells like marijuana out here," to which I responded by telling her that our friendly neighbourhood smoker had been out smoking for at least half an hour before leaving. I suddenly became freaked out that my mother knew the smell of said drug so well, but I wasn't about to ask her about it. Unlike her, I hadn't noticed at all. However, when she went back inside, he came back out and started yelling at random objects that may or may not have even existed, so I gathered that my mother was right in assuming he was getting high. I thought he only smoked cigarettes. Lovely.

Anyway, I am dedicating this post to both types of dreams: the ones you have while you're asleep and the ones that pertain to aspirations. Let's start with the ones you have while your asleep. Friday night, I had one of the strangest dreams ever. It was strange in the sense that it actually made sense. I mean to say, it had a proper storyline and wasn't just completely randomwaffles thrown together. Well, it was, but it still had a logical sequence. It wasn't completely devoid of execution, so I was a little bummed, but it was still pretty interesting and not particularly scarring. Now, you must first understand that this dream was probably triggered by a number of factors, these being:

- I was listening to David Harris' CD before I went to sleep
- I had 'Let Me Be Your Wings' from Thumbelina stuck in my head before I went to sleep. This was a big trigger. It's lucky that I don't feel shame for still loving animated films that I loved as a child.
- I was/am so hyped that I'm seeing Jesus Christ Superstar in two weeks time.
- I was in my room. I know that sounds like a weird trigger, but it became a setting, sooo...
- I had been looking at the stars. Duh.
- The most beautiful sky I have ever seen was in Miles, an outback town in Southwest Queensland. I remember looking at the starry sky the night I stayed there, and being completely in awe of just how clearly you could see the stars. I live semi-rurally, so I always have a pretty uncontaminated view of the sky, but this was just something else.

That said, here's a transcript of what I wrote down after waking up from the dream. If it doesn't make sense, or is written badly, it's because I was still half asleep, and I cannot be bothered to alter what I wrote. Note: Thar be many tense changes, me hearties!

The dream started with me going for a walk around the outback with a small group of my family and friends. It was nighttime, and we slowly navigated our way around the trees and assorted sandstone rocks, walking through the bush. We came to a cliff, and I looked up at the sky, getting a good view of it for the first time. As I looked up at the beautiful stars, I realised that I must have been near Miles, otherwise the stars wouldn't have looked so pretty. I walked along the edge of the cliff, and came across an old man, sitting by a campfire. He told me that the area was surrounded by strange myths and legends, and that I should be careful of that fact.

Suddenly, I found myself shrunken to the size of a mere doll, and in a house. It looked like my house, but I was sure that it was not. It then dawned on me that I was Thumbelina. With this knowledge, I didn't want to stay in a boring house, I wanted to explore the World. As I thought about this, an old woman came up to me and beseeched me not to leave, telling me that she had always wanted a child and it would break her heart if I left. I lied and told her that I wouldn't leave. After she left the room (which seriously looked exactly like my room. I even remember sitting on my own windowsill) the fair prince appeared. He told me that he was also trapped in the house, and wanted to break free. My memory of this part is vague, but I remember attempting to escape with him many times, and eventually becoming friends. After our attempts failed, we became desperate and broke out one of the glass windows of the room. He flew out onto the street, and I jumped out of the window, running as fast as I could, and hoping that the old woman would not catch me. After running for a while, I suddenly decided that I really, really wanted to kiss the fairy prince (I facepalm'd writing that), but he insisted that we find some shelter. For some reason, it started becoming dark really quickly, and we raced around, trying to find shelter before it was too dark to see anything. However, the only place we knew of to stay was the house we had just escaped from, and neither of us wanted to go back. So, we resolved to simply lie down on the grass, and huddle for warmth. Heartbroken that we had left, the old lady came looking for us. She found as sleeping on the grass, but did not take us back to her house, for she knew that to be happy, we had to be free.

The next morning, the fairy prince and I began looking for the kingdom (what? Did you think princes just appeared out of thin air?) he was from. After much traumatic searching, and the words "I'm glad you weren't paired as heterosexual life partners with anyone, because that means you can be paired with me, because I love you" being said be him at some stage, we found the kingdom. All the people were gathered around the town square/grass area thing to watch the execution of a joker who was a paedophile. I was horrified by this, and the fairy prince, seeing how much this bothered me, decided to distract everyone by flying above the crowd and announcing his return. The people were so overjoyed to see the prince whom they had thought was lost, that they let the criminal go in celebration. The fairy prince then announced that he had finally found the love of his life, and had brought her back with him. I had a fangirl moment to myself in the dream, before becoming desperate to reach him, and running through the crazy crowd. However, they would not part, and I started to cry, calling his name and hoping that the people would realise that I was the one we was talking about, and let me through. Still, no-one would let me through, and I became more of a tearful mess. Suddenly the fairy prince flew down, scooped me up in his arms, took me flying into the sky above the crowd and kissed me (erm. This is the first (pooossibly second) time I have ever dreamt that I kissed someone :#3 Shuddup. I iz innocent). We then left the festive crowd and went back to a small house. I fell asleep. the next day, we went to the King and Queen's court. The prince told his parents that he wished to abolish the death penalty, because I didn't agree with it. It was agree upon, and all was well.

Suddenly, everyone turned against the prince. He was arrested and beaten my a mob of officials and I all could do was scream and cry in horror. All of the sudden, there were a group of weirdos singing the 'Because of One Man' theme from Jesus Christ Superstar and I found myself being forced to sing along, and walking a metaphorical tightrope. Quite quickly, it dawned on me the the story had changed: if this was now JCS, then my poor fairy prince that had fought for my beliefs would surely be crucified! I ran around the town, seeing if there was anything I could do to help, but it was useless. When I returned to the castle, I found the fairy prince beaten and battered, telling his parents that he regretted nothing he had done, because it was for God and for me. I think my mind blocked me from having to see this character/figment of the imagination suffer any further, because the setting suddenly changed.

The whole story I had just lived was revealed to merely have been a movie, being watched my my mother when she was five years old and in a school classroom. Her teacher told her that they were watching the film, because it had apparently been filmed at the beachside town they lived in (funnily enough, my mother actually did grow up in a beachside town). There is a visual metaphor of a bird trapped in a water tank, trying to escape. Suddenly, the dream flashed forward to current times and my mother was telling me about the movie/story, while we were shopping for clothes in a 'gothic lolita thrift shop'. I tell her that I was the girl in the story, but she ignores me, and tells me to try on clothes. I walk out of that shop and go to another one, where [TenutoTuo] is working. We share some lame fashion jokes, and I find myself working in the store. I think of the fairy prince and wonder which reality was real. At this point, I actually wake up. Everything was a fantasy; merely a dream.

Yes, I dreamt all of that. I kid you not. I have no idea how I remembered it all, but I'm glad that I wrote it down straight away, because it's all pretty fuzzy now. How crazy is that? I think I should write a story about this. Not really, because no-one would probably read it. Still, it was a pretty cool dream.

Now, on to aspirations. Today, I was looking at the website for the largest university in my city; the one that I plan to study at next year. I've been thinking of studying abroad at some stage, so I went to the relevant page on their website. Somehow, I got myself to the page of a University in Spain that does exchange with the one I want to go to, and has opportunites for Hispanic studies for international students. When I saw this, and then read up on it, I thought I was going to cry. I would love to study abroad for a semester, doing Hispanic studies, especially given the courses that they offer for it. And, seeing as I am going to majoring in Spanish, I'm guessing that if I work hard enough, it really is a possibility. I'll admit, it is ka-chinga! And I have to have done uni for at least two years before I can apply for it. However, if I work hard and manage to get a job and save, who knows? I finally have something to aim for, and aim for it, I shall! Because, as much as loves me my life, friends and fam, going to a different country and meeting new people and studying something that really interests me just sounds so wonderful. Is it bad that I'd kinda maybe love to just do something different from everyone else? It's really great that many of my friends are going to be doing Arts with me next year, and I'm glad that I'll still probably get to see them around. But, I want to be different from everyone else. I don't want to just do the same thing as everyone else is. I'm hoping that this program will allow me to break free a little, and give me a sense of "You know what? I did something big, and scary, and outside my comfort zone. Something that not many people get to do. I'm proud of this."

I could rant about how awesome this course looks for ages, but I shall restrain myself. I should probably stop blogging, and revise for my Maths test, which is on Tuesday. Random fact: The title of this post came from the song of the same title by Kati Wolf, who represented Hungary in Eurovision 2011. Word.

Oh, and [ClearlyUnfocused] this totes doesn't mean that I'm bailing on our Espana trip at the end of uni. You and me will haz awesome Spain timez fosho. There is no way that that isn't happening, because I have been looking forward to it way too much ;D

Biology. It's a way of life.

LOLJK it's a class I'm forced to do. So, I'm sitting here next to tthe wonderful Gojo, and we're going through our blogging history and seeing where our blogs come up on Google. I'm on the first page for Clannad, demisemiquavers, travel bug and feminism. The latter is thoroughly random, but hey, I'm cool with drawing in views due to critical theory. Gojo's trying to get me into HetaOni. It sounds really random, but hey, we all know that randomness is superduperawesomeballsofcool, yeah? I'm told that it's like an RPG that you watch, and it's kinda like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, but with Hetalia people. So, even if I end up taking ages to watch it, you fine people should anyways.

I've been thinking about uni again. The other day, my parents pretty much told me that I had to go to a specific uni, and not do the only course that I've ever been in. Oh, but they'll totally support me in whatever I do in life, because the world is my oyster. Yeaaah, thanks for being consistent, dear parentals. I don't really mind what they say. I'm thinking of doing ArtsxJournalism, so that I have a wide variety of English/culture/possibly language or travel career options. I was interested in doing the dual with International Hotel and Tourism management, buuuuut... I don't know. I love Events Management, but I'm not so big on business or anything that has to do with Maths, really. So, we'll see. I'm praying that God will give me guidance. I mean, I know that I have to take control of my life and my destiny, but I feel that if I have God to guide me, everything will turn out okay in the end. I read something the other day: When you have faith, there is no reason to be afraid. Fakir moment! "I will face my fate... without fear!" Mkay, so that was a combination of two lines that are said at totally different times, but you didn't know that. Oh noes, I blew my cover! /runs and hides in a bush/

Apologies for this being a rather boring post. I blame Biology. I'm hoping to have a more interesting post when I get home. It shall be about passionfruit and symbolism in TDWT songs, maybe. Yeah, that probably sounds lameballsereific, but I shall make it fun for you, my wonderful viewerkiddies! Speaking of viewers, I haz a new follower! Seeing as I don't exactly have a massive following, I like to acknowledge when a noob (I say that in an endearing way) joins the [demisemiquavergirl] crew. That said, salutations and greetings to my newest follower! ^^)

Dancing Through Life... And Falling On Your Face

Yes, it is great to sit through your biology exam, when all you can think about is David Harris' lush Dancing Through Life riff. Gah. The test was, erm, lame. As always, my Biology teacher filled it with biased rubbish and questions that no-one could have possibly studied for. Which is good in a way, because you know what to expect, and the sort of answers that she wants. But, it's also completely infuriating.
Yesterday, I felt so good about everything. I could see the insignificance of school assignments, and all that rubbish. Today is a new day. I feel the weight of work pulling down on my shoulders. Like a burro muerto (wow. Never thought I would reference the words 'dead donkey') that is still carrying their master's load.
I really fail at de-stressing. I sound like this:
"Yeah, I'm all cool bitches. Not, a care in the World. Screw school, I choose happiness! Whoop whoop! Oh, sh*t, the English homework is due? OMGOMGOMGOMG. Must go and work on that for 3 hours, then study for other subjects and start some assignments. Ah! I wasted time not caring about school! How I'm going to fail and drop out of school and die alone and fail and get in trouble and fail and... WAAH!"
'Ello there, bipolar child. Wanna make out? ZOMG. I just asked myself to make out. What is wroooooooong with me?
See? THIS is why people shouldn't give me assessment, it turns me into the craziest chica everrrrrr.
Side note, I totally had the most odd study session today with [MissInvisible]. I really suck at remembering things. Seriously. Thank goodness she was there to help me out! ...And distract me. Actually, I was doing most of the distracting, rambling about Wicked and all. Sorry, wifey!
My Maths test is tomorrow. I really need to revise, like, now. But, I'm not going to. Mwahahaha. Actually, I will. Just wait a few minutes, and I'll cave.
Speaking of education, my parents were speaking to me about University today. Apparently, it costs $14000 to board on-campus, which is like, way too expensive. So, unless I can get a job and rent a flat with a few people, it looks like I'm going to be stuck out in a rural area, that has nothing and is close to nothing for another few years. That is exactly the sort of news I wanted to hear.
Man, I am so desperate to get out of school. Can you tell?
Being in Brisbane city last night, even if it was only early still was just... amazeballs. As Glinda says "The nightlife, the hustle and bustle, it's all so... Ozmopolitan!"
I'm dying to reach the day when I can just stay out in the city, maybe go for a few drinks, hang with my friends. Rather than having to rush home because I have school exams the next day.
That's also the great thing about University. At the end, everyone leaves with a degree, just for passing. At school, you have to work so hard to get good marks, just so you can get a decent OP and therefore hopefully get into the University you want. Which, you cannot get it the tards in your grade are dumb and can't do well on the QCS test. Yes, I'm referring to my grade there.
Anyways, I should stop ranting and actually get some stuff done. When will my life begin? I wish I could answer that question. Hopefully, it will be soon. /Tangent/ I'm already doing so much more than I could have dreamed of, with my high school life, but I've still got so far to go.
I'll leave it at that for now. A final quote from the song Die, Vampire, Die from one of my favourite musicals, [title of show]:
You sketched that turtle you saw on that ad on late night cable TV. Tippy turtle! But, your fourth grade teacher said "You can't draw", oh those vampires won't let you be. F*ck you Ms Johnson, word!
It is the height of randomness. Farewell, my little [demisemiquavers]!

It's Hip to be Hispanic

Really, it is. I can't explain it, but ever since around September last year, I've had an obsession with Spain. And Spanish people. And Spanish culture. And Spanish music. And Spanish cities. And Spanish food. And Spanish language. And Spanish men. And, by extension, South America and Latin America.
I'll admit, I've even watched a bucketload of Spanish news broadcasts, even though I don't speak a word of the language, and therefore didn't know what was being talked about most of the time. They mentioned my city once, and even though it was because of a natural disaster we were experiencing, I was still like "ZOMG! Spain gives their love and news time to [demisemiquavergirl'scity]!"
To prove that I'm crazily obsessed, I'm thinking of studying Spanish as a major at university, despite having no prior knowledge of the language. I keep saying that I'll teach it to myself, but as we all know, I can be very lazy and forgetful. Anyways, luckily, there is actually a beginner's strand for the major I'm looking at (where the only prerequisite is that you haven't studied the language before. Whoot.) which is extremely lucky.
So, why Spain? Okay, this is a little bit of an awkward thing to answer. Like most things, it started with a guy. Let me rephrase this, it started with a cartoon character. Before your brain goes into overload with judgement and scorn, you must note that I am referring to this cartoon character:

"I mean, who would give away their shirt, in the Arctic?"

Yeah, okay, so it's still pathetic that I turned into a Spanish fangirl because of a cartoon, but hear me out.
Every year, I seem to go through a period of a few weeks (sometimes multiple times in the year), when I get really sick and have to take half-a whole week off school. One of these times was late August last year. I was stuck at home, with nothing to do, but study for exams, which, let's face it, is the last thing you want to do when you feel like squashed crudbiscuits. So, instead, I lay on the couch and watched TV. On this particular day, there was absolutely nothing to my liking on, so I had a look at the programs that my sister had recorded on our DVD recorder. I swear, there were about 4 pages (with around 4-6 videos per page) of clips that just said "Total Drama, Total Drama, Total Drama, Total Drama". Bored and sick, I thought to myself "What's the harm in watching this? If she's recorded that many episodes of this show, it can't be that bad." A few days later, I was a bigger fan of the show than her.
In case you're wondering, Total Drama Island is a Canadian cartoon, that is a spoof of Survivor. The premise of the show is that a bunch of teenage stereotypes are thrown together in a crappy summercamp, and are forced to do whacky challenges. When you write about it, it sounds so lame, but really, it is the funniest thing ever. Now, usually sequels are in no way as good as the original (for example, Love Never Dies- Andrew Lloyd Webber's atrocious sequel to The Phantom of the Opera. I fully intend to rant about how full of fail this is later), and, I guess, Total Drama Action, the second season was. But, the third season, Total Drama World Tour was utter AMAZEBALLS. This was the season that I sat watching on one of my sick days last August. Despite coming in halfway through the season, I found it so incredibly hilarious, and found myself laughing until it hurt on so many occasions.
I'm going to say this up front: I am a HUGE shipper. So, as soon as I saw the belligerent sexual tension between fellow series antagonists Heather and Alejandro, I told myself that I wanted them to be together forever. What I didn't realise, until a few days later, was that in fact, I was a complete and utter Alejandro fangirl. Up until that moment in my life, I'd never really gone fangirl over a character before. I guess you could say that opened up the floodgates, because I have been soo fangirl over many characters ever since.
It also made me realise something: I am really attracted to Hispanic/Latin men. As I said, all the characters in TD are stereotypes e.g. dumb blonde, queen bee, delinquent. Alejandro's specific stereotype was the Latin Lover, and man, does he fulfil it. So, he uses his charms to manipulate everyone, who cares? After all, evil is sexy.
Now, I'm veering off track. Anyway, my fangirlness made me come to a realisation of what I was attracted to. Prior to this, I'd never really been attracted to guys (I most certainly was not attracted to women, if that's what you were thinking). It's not that I'd never seen any hot guys in my life, I just hadn't ever been 'wowed' completely by anyone, or had a specific type of male that I found myself attracted to.
At a good friend's birthday party, I started talking to fellow Al-fangirl [clearlyunfocused] about going to Spain to "see the sights", and by sights, we meant men.It was at that moment that I realised something: I really didn't know much about Spain. So, I went researching. Turns out, the country is more than just a whole heap of pretty faces. Spanish/Latin culture is AMAZING, and I fully intend to immerse myself in it someday. There is something about it that is so thrillingly different from my own. Slightly dangerous, yet beautiful and comforting.
Here's hoping that at some stage in the future, [demisemiquavergirl] will be blogging to you with a hot Hispanic lover on her arm and a nice ruby (greater than diamonds since billions of years ago) ring on my finger...
Oh! I was going to end my post just there, but I remembered two things:
1. I need to marry a Latin/Hispanic guy, because I really want to give my [sons] cool names like Ricardo, or Jose, or Roberto or Fernando. If I have little white boys, I will look like a complete bogan giving them such culturally inaccurate names.
2. I have become so much of a Latin fangirl, that I even go crazy over Fez from That 70s Show. Really, I'm not sure if I think he's hot because he's the funniest character on the show, or I think he's the funniest character on the show because he's hot. And his actor is from Venezuela. Yummo.
Okay, I'm finished now. Excuse me while I just have a fangirl moment to myself.
Me encanta España, por lo tanto!
